Shape Bent pipe
At equivalent weight, bent pipes have the big advantage of being lighter in the mouth than straight pipes: they may therefore be preferred by pipe smokers who hold the pipe in the mouth. It is often said that this shape can facilitate the flow of moisture into the curvature of the pipe and stem, causing the famous "gurgling" effect: this is of course not a generality, as this problem can be caused by many other factors (excessive salivation, choice of tobacco, stuffing, etc.).
