On the practical side, in addition to the 2 stems, the poker shape allows you to put the pipe down without spilling the ash.

This pipe can be smoked with or without a 9mm filter.

The bowl is not coating. 

Tip: when you're new to pipe smoking, it's normal for the pipe to go out: you need to take the time to master the rhythm, which will happen slowly: in the meantime, just relight it!
